The last is yet to be heard on the contentious Imo State Governorship election results and the Supreme Court judgement which replaced Emeka Ihedioha with Senator Hope Uzodinma.
In a curious twist to the whole saga, an electoral officer has released an audio confession detailing the route to the controversial 388 polling units that did the swing.
Speaking from a hideout, an ad hoc electoral officer who claimed to have participated in the 2019 governorship election in Imo state spoke of how he was allegedly contracted by Senator Hope Uzodinma, the new Governor of Imo state, and his agents to help write’ fictitious’ figures for the 388 polling units.
In a copy of the audio confession obtained by ThePodium, but which we could not independently verify as at the time of going live, the man alleged that he was invited to a hotel in Owerri where he met Uzodinma, 10 others and an INEC staff, shortly after the 2019 general elections in Imo state.
At the said meeting, he further alleged in his confession that he was presented with a list of places where elections were either cancelled or did not hold in Imo state during the elections.
According to him, the new Governor and his people then brought out a list of 388 polling units – but the materials they have was only 366. “So we used 366 materials and started filling in the figures they gave us”.
“Shortly after the 2019 general elections in Imo state, I was invited to the presidential suite of Oxygen Hotel, Owerri – to come and do some work for one of the Governorship candidates. When I got to the presidential suite, there were 10 other people in the room – and Senator Uzodinma when I came in. Then they told me they were going to use me to do some work”.
Shortly after, an INEC staff came in with a list of places which elections were either cancelled or did not hold in Imo state. They then brought out a list of 388 polling units – but the materials they have was only 366.
Claiming to have been offered N1million each but given N100, 000 with balance to be paid after Uzodinma would have secured victory, the man “challenged anybody including Senator Uzodinma to produce any duplicate copy that will match the result collated by the police that was tendered in court.
“Because if it was true that elections held in those places, every party would have their own duplicate copy. I’m calling on APC, APGA, AA or anybody to produce any duplicate copy that matches the results tendered in court”.
The other details in the audio are that:
“Myself and the other 10 men were promised one million Naira each by the Senator. Immediately after the promise, he gave us one hundred thousand Naira each – with a promise to pay the balance after securing victory.
“So we used 366 materials and started filling in the figures they gave us. That is why if you look at the result sheets carefully, all the results were written in just 10 handwriting only – instead of 388 different handwritings”.
“When I expressed doubts on the possibility of anything coming out from these results we manufactured in his hotel room, Senator Uzodinma told me that the Inspector General of Police is his friend – and that the Inspector General was going to assist him make the plan work”.
“He further explained to me that he used to also help the Inspector General when he was a deputy commissioner of Police -and used to sleep in his (Uzodinma) house then. Senator Uzodinma also told me that he also has the full support of the Attorney General of the federation, the Director-General of the DSS and Oshiomole, the APC Chairman and two supreme court judges – he did not mention their names.
” All these people he boasted were going to use their influence to put pressure on the tribunal, Appeal court and Supreme Court. It was when he lost at the tribunal that Senator Uzodinma boasted again that the least that will happen is that that there will be a split decision of 3-2 at the Appeal court – and that the minority judgment will now form the basis of the supreme court final judgment”.
“True to his word, the minority report of the Appeal court actually turned out to be the exact reproduction of Senator Uzodinma lawyer’s written address to the Appeal court. To prove what I have said here, I challenge anybody including Senator Uzodinma to produce any duplicate copy that will match the result collated by the police that was tendered in court. Because if it was true that elections held in those places, every party would have their own duplicate copy. I’m calling on APC, APGA, AA or anybody to produce any duplicate copy that marches the results tendered in court”.
