Imo govt promises to revive abandoned Avutu poultry

….villagers voluntarily engage in manual labour at the site

The Imo State government has given the assurance that the dilapidated Avutu farm in Avutu, Obowo Local Government Area of the state, will receive urgent attention.

The SA to the governor on agriculture, Uche Odozor, said this when he visited the poultry site recently. The governor’s aide who met the youths of the LGA clearing the overgrown grasses at the site, assured that the state government will revitalize the agricultural sector in the state.

“Gov Ihedioha has made agricultural development in the state a priority. He knows the inexhaustible benefits of agriculture and he is putting measures in place to ensure the state exports agricultural products. Avutu poultry will be revived by Gov Ihedioha and Obowo people will massively benefit from it, ” Ozodor adorned.

It would be recalled that His Excellency, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, represented by his Special Assistant on agricultural development, had visited with some foreign investors in agriculture.

In his reaction, the Transition Chairman of Obowo, Hon Jasper Chukwuemeka noted that the Indigenes of Avutu were eager to contribute their quota in making sure that Avutu poultry farm is revived. He said the youths voluntarily engaged in manual labour at the site.

The excited Chukwuemeka said, “the revitalization of the farm will provide both skilled and unskilled job opportunities for the indigenes of Avutu.”

He noted that the farm which was the pride of the Obowo was left moribund by the previous administration.

“The past administration didn’t deem it fit to invest in agriculture which didn’t help the economy of the state. Obowo people are happy that we have a purpose driven governor in Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, who through the revitalization of Avutu poultry has displayed his willingness to rebuild the state.” He stated.
