Imo Governor Elect receives Okigwe Zone leaders

A delegation of the Forum of Peoples Democratic Party Leaders in Okigwe Zone, earlier today paid a solidarity visit to the Imo State governor-elect, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, at his residence in Owerri.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the state Chairman of the party, Barr. Charles Ezekwem (Ikemba Okigwe), told the governor-elect that the leaders had come to formally felicitate with him on the party’s victory in the March 9th gubernatorial election in the state.

Chief Ezekwem assured the in-coming governor of the group’s readiness to always support and defend his government for the betterment of Imo State and its people.

The leaders also solicited for the support of Governor Elect in the quest for the zone to produce the next speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.

The governor-elect in his response assured that he believes in equity, fairness and justice, while assuring the leaders that he would be a faithful ally and partner.

He however charged them to work harder in order to make the zone mainstay of PDP going forward, noting that the performance of the party in the zone has been poor.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of a communiqué issued by the forum at a recent meeting to the Governor Elect, HE Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha by Chief Charles Ezekwem, the State Chairman of the PDP and the leader of the delegation.

Also in the delegation were the Okigwe Zonal Chairman of the party, Chief Silas Onyeiwu, H.E Ebere Udeagu, Engr. Chinedu Chukwuonye, CUDUC, Chief Barr. Chris Okewulonu, Dr. Mitchell Ekwegh, Hon. Chukwuka Agwonobi and a host of other leaders.

His Excellency received them alongside the Deputy Governor Elect of Imo State, Hon. Engr. Gerald Irona.
