One of the wisest sayings of all generations is “health is wealth”. In another construction it is said that a heathy nation is a wealthy nation.
The primary purpose of government is to cater for wellbeing and security of the people. One major factor in the ingredients of well-being is good health. And we may add that the greatest insurance available to human beings is the health insurance.
Beginning from May 29, 2019, Imo State and Imo people will begin to witness the kind of heathcare provision they desire but have been denied this past near eight years.
This is because the governor-apparent, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC has genuine good plans for the total restoration of the health sector destroyed by the expiring governor and his expiring regime.
In summary, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has the following to say about what he will do to rebuild the health sector of Imo State:
“(Our Government will) Strengthen the primary heathcare system as a solid foundation for implementation of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare delivery; Introduce free healthcare services for pregnant women, children under 5 years, senior citizens (65 years and above) based on the National Health Act and the National Health Insurance Scheme; Rehabilitate and re-equip the Owerri Specialist Hospital and indeed all General Hospitals in all the LGAs of the State; Procure residency programmes in medicine, pharmaceuticals and medical laboratory technology at the Imo State University; Promote diaspora investment in healthcare via a Medical Village with basic I – building, power, security, broadband etc; Partner with Healthcare Insurance firms to launch a Health Insurance progamme.”
No doubt that formation and sequence are well loaded with practicable ideas. What is left is for Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to be elected as governor and he will make Imo State and Imo people healthy once again.
It is in his character to promote the health of the people. This he has been doing right from when he was a national lawmaker. He once sponsored an across the State healthcare delivery programme that saw thousands of Imo people receiving medicare at various locations in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe Zones.
A comprehensive report on that will be found in the “Ihedioha’s Book of Projects” that is in the pipeline, which has been in the public domain for quite some time now.
As he was patronizing Imo people with free healthcare, so was he providing high quality and durable hospital equipment and medical education training equipment to schools of nursing across Imo State.
It appalls him that the labour of Imo heroes past in the area of health was allowed to be in vain by the expiring governor. He specifically refers to the Imo State University Teaching Hospital at Orlu which was established by the PDP Government of Chief Achike Udenwa but which was neglected by the inept and incompetent government that is already packing to vacate Douglas House in few weeks time.
There is no doubt that soon after his inauguration on May 29, Rt. Hon. Emeka will hit the ground running as it relates to rebuilding the vandalized health sector.
Imo people should as a matter of civic responsibility troop out on March 2 and vote for Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to become the next governor of Imo State. That will guarantee a better healthcare delivery for Imo people.
Don’t be deceived. There is no other candidate that has the clear vision and mission for a better Imo State as Ihedioha has.
VOTE FOR IHEDIOHA!
