RE: TOPIC: THE DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS AT THE MBAISE/NGOR OKPALA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE/ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, BY AGENTS OF THE PDP GOVT. IN THE STATE LED BY GOVERNOR EMEKA IHEDIOHA
*OKOROCHA IS AN UNREPENTANT, SHAMELESS LIAR
The attention of the PDP and Governor Emeka Ihedioha led Imo State government has been drawn to a press release signed by Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo for the immediate past Governor of the State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, in which he alleged that it was agents of the Ihedioha led government of Imo state that brought down the building at the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Ngo-Okpala, which collapsed recently.
While we found the accusation ludicrous, and not worthy of a rejoinder, because Ndi-Imo already are aware that Okorocha and his bunch of disgruntled aides are pathological liars, who have since lost not only credibility, but altogether the sense of shame; hence this rebuttal is not meant to convince Ndi-Imo, rather to actually set the record straight for posterity sake.
It’s utterly regrettable and shocking that rather than join the rest of Imo people to effusively offer adulations to the Almighty God that the avoidable disaster did not claim any life, Okorocha and his cohorts in ignominy instead chose to concoct the malicious propaganda that agents of the state government demolished the said structure in order to discredit the former governor, who is reputed for his affinity with substandard projects, when he held sway.
The government of the day in the state led by the visionary Gov. Ihedioha is too busy to invest an ounce of energy at discrediting a man who had in the eight years of his inglorious, catastrophic and ruinous reign as governor already discredited himself for the rest of his life, except in the unlikely event that he does something to redeem his irredeemably battered image.
One expects Okorocha and his lackeys to provide either pictures or a video clip to prove to the unsuspecting public, who they made futile attempt at hoodwinking, that it was agents of the incumbent government that brought the building to rubbles, other than the fact that it suddenly collapsed owing to architectural defects and low quality materials with which the building was erected in Okorocha’s administration. We enjoin the public to request from them the evidence they so lay claim to, for their otherwise spurious claims.
The undeniable truth is that Okorocha cannot point to one standard project executed in his administration, as ongoing integrity test on some of his constructions failed woefully; as such he can only fool but strangers, Ndi-Imo in totality are already aware of his penchant for substandard constructions. This explains why the state is today burdened with failed projects, including plethora of impassable roads, barely three months after he left office.
It is also instructive that the public is put in the know, that the recent collapse of the newly executed government project is not the first witnessed in the state under the regime of the immediate past government of Okorocha. Just to mention but a few, in 2013, two years into Okorocha’s unsavory rein, an academic block (a state government project) under construction collapsed at the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.
Furthermore, Prince and Princess Hotel, Okigwe, a project started and later abandoned by the Okorocha administration collapsed under his watch. Again, there is no single road constructed by the Okorocha’s administration that did not dilapidate sooner than it was constructed.
The cause of this ugly trend is simple. Okorocha in a bid to siphon monies meant to deliver quality projects that would stand the test of time, contracted quarks to execute state projects.
If Okorocha did quality projects in the eight years he was governor as Onwuemedo claimed, why are Imo roads not motorable today? Why will Gov. Ihedioha, who is barely three months in office, award contracts for the construction of several important roads across the state, including major roads in the capital city?
It is regrettably sad that Okorocha is rather mocking citizens of Imo State by not being remorseful for the shoddy jobs and substandard projects that was the signature of his administration. He is that shameless to have the effrontery to misrepresent facts about the recently collapsed university building, all in a bid to malign the PDP government in the state and poor aspersions on the integrity of Governor Ihedioha, with the bid at pitching the public against the new government.
We are aware of Okorocha’s desperation and passion to distract the present administration that is committed to rebuilding the state he destroyed. Nevertheless, the truth is that as a government, we are too focused and responsible to fall to petty ploys of an irresponsible opposition which Okorocha is spearheading.
