Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the Governor of Imo has reported that desilting work has begun at Lake Nwaebere in pursuant of the Government to decisively tackle the menace of flood in Owerri, the State capital.
According to the report filed by Prince Eze Ugocukwu, the SSA, Public Enlightenment, the efforts at opening up of Lake Nwaebere is sequel to the visit penultimate week by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON KSC, the governor, to the Imo State University (IMSU).
Heavy duty earth moving swim-burger machines have been arranged by the Imo ENTRACO to Lake Nwaebere to facilitate its desilting in accordance with the directives of the governor.
Speaking, Hon. Alex Emeziem, the General Manager of ENTRACO and the governor’s Special Adviser on Sanitation, stated that: “Excavators and other swimburggy is on the way as the situation has created great concern to the RebuildImo Government.
“We are committed as in less than 100 days in office, we have opened up the tunnels and desilted the gutters. We gave the capacity and vision. We will not disappoint Imo people.
“About three Water Basins, (that’s Water Retention Shades) at Mbano Street, Trans-Egbu axis etc are to be desilted.”
At the stakeholders mini-confab held at Government House, Owerri on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 between Gov. Ihedioha and engineers with surveyors, architects, landscape architects, town planners, enviromentalists and others, the governor charged the Imo ENTRACO to ensure the opening up of flood tunnels and channels to make way for the free-flow of flood out of Owerri city.
It’s quite inspiring exciting to government and people of Imo State that Imo ENTRACO has promptly effected the governor’s order with the desilting work at Lake Nwaebere to further checkmate the menace of flooding in Owerri city and its environs.
Gov. Ihedioha is working! Imo must be rebuilt! To God be the glory!
